Vyacheslav Butsayev

Vyacheslav Gennadjewitsch Buzajew (Russian Вячеслав Геннадьевич Буцаев; born June 13, 1970 in Togliatti, Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player, who has been working end of his career as a hockey coach. His brother Yuri is also a professional hockey player.

Career

For the 1986/87 season, the striker began his career at Torpedo Togliatti. Already in 1989/90 he moved to HK CSKA Moscow. After he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1990 by the Philadelphia Flyers in the sixth round at 109th place, he ventured in 1992/93 the jump to North America. Overall, he scored 43 goals in 135 games in the Soviet league. He was appointed to the team of Soviet national ice hockey team early on. On 13 May 1990 he was in a game against Japan for the first time for the Sbornaja on the ice. On November 10, 1991 he played his last match for the USSR. He was also a member of the Russian national ice hockey team. His international career was crowned with the gold medal at the Olympic Winter Games in 1992. He was inducted into the "Russian Hockey Hall of Fame " in 1992.

During his time in the National Hockey League he played for the Philadelphia Flyers, San Jose Sharks, Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, Florida Panthers, Tampa Bay Lightning and Ottawa Senators. In 132 games, he scored 17 goals and 26 assists.

In 2001 he returned to Russia and played at first with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl. The season 2004/ 05 he spent at Severstal Cherepovets and HK CSKA Moscow. The season 2005/ 06 he spent at HK MVD Moskovskaya Oblast. Most recently, he was in the 2006/07 season at HK Dmitrov in the Wysschaja League, the second highest Russian league, under contract.

For the 2010/11 season was Buzajew head coach of the MHL teams Kransaja Armija before he became an assistant coach at the 2011 HK CSKA Moscow in December. In February 2012 Buzajew was promoted to acting head coach after previously Július Šupler had been dismissed. In the 2012/13 season Buzajew acted initially as an assistant coach Valeri Bragin from before this was released in December 2012 and was re-appointed Buzajew to interim coach.
