Vyachko of Koknese

Wjatschko (Russian Вячко, scientific transliteration Vjačko; Latvian Vetseka ) was a Russian prince who fought at the beginning of the 13th century against the expansionism of the Livonian Teutonic Knights.

When his name is the Altnowgoroder form of Wjatschelaw. It is believed that there had been from Druzk with his father to a prince of the Rurik Dynasty. As the Knights their first appearance in today's Latvia, Wjatschko ruled the fortress of Kukenois. Although it is believed that this principality of Polotsk opposite was tributary to the Prince of Polotsk Wjatschko did not support that would have enabled him to withstand the pressure of the Crusaders. During one of his raids Wjatschko was captured by Buxhoevden by Albert and brought in chains to Riga, but there released by the Archbishop. Wjatschko hit from this, however, and was killed during the assault of the Crusaders of the city with his followers.
