The oldest part of Wallpaper Horst, the east of the present town center, this old village, was probably a pre-Christian sanctuary dating from the 8th century. It was on the grounds of Meyerhof, in whose neighborhood there were more farms. The foundation of the sanctuary was used by 800 partially for the construction of Old St. Alexander Church. Wall Horst was first mentioned in the Latin legend De miraculis sancti Alexandri as Walonhurst, where in the year 851 of his eyesight deprived Wetrih the Christian martyrs Alexander of Rome ran to meet and miraculously his eyesight recovered: Age vero vir nomine Weltrih oculorum lumine privatus in Same date itinere in villa Walonhurst sancto martyrdom Alexandro occurrit meritisque eius adiuvantibus visa recepit. The " Hörnschen Hof", which is documented evidence since 1223, but is probably about 200 years older, was also a Grange. The north of the old village in the direction of Pente situated farm is no longer in possession of the eponymous family Hörnschemeyer since 1910/11.

The center Wall Horst shifted after the completion of the new St. Alexander 's Church in the late 19th century to the West to a new village. The new church was built near the Gothic Anna chapel from the 15th century on the Bokholt. The Bokholt was the meeting place of the pin statuses of the Prince-Bishopric of Osnabrück in the 15th and 16th centuries. The old village east of Federal Highway 68 retained its rural character.

Coat of arms

News of Arms

Blazon: In green a silver ring, set him in the manner of a helical cross four silver lozenges, a peak towards the center; the tips do not touch each other.

The four silver diamonds indicate the four former municipalities Wall Horst, Hollage, Lechtingen and Rulle. Through the ring they are connected to a common wheel, while the wheel is also the coat of arms symbol of the Bishop of Osnabrück. However, it can also be interpreted as an image of the place name Horst Wall: The Wall encloses a nest. The resulting cross in the middle is reminiscent of the Saxon wars and the Christianization of the room. Green did not occur in the arms of the boroughs, the color was chosen as a symbol of living nature, to draw attention to the beautiful surroundings Horst's Wall.

The coat of arms was designed by heraldist Hans -Heinrich Reclam.

Historical coat of arms

Blazon: In red growing from the lower plate edge Golden Wheel, two of its six spokes are quite visible. On the bike a runny golden hen about it in the corners of each plate is an unmarried golden Tatzenkreuz.

Main character of the coat of arms is the hen. It crowns the top of the old Alexander Church in Wall Horst, unlike other churches, which are usually decorated with a rooster. Therefore, the hen is considered particularly true and identifier of the location. The wheel is the coat of arms of diocese and city of Osnabrück, which is on many levels since the early Middle Ages. The two crosses denote the old and the new church. Gold was chosen for the pictures because the hen was gilded earlier ( Kollektenbief Auxiliary Bishop Otto Graf Bronckhorst from 1711 ); Red corresponds to the field brand of the Lower Saxony coat of arms.
