Wangenried
Wangenried is a municipality in the Oberaargau the canton of Bern in Switzerland.
Geography
Cheeks Ried is located on 473 m above sea level. M., 2 km south of the district town Wangen an der Aare and 9 km east of the town of Solothurn (air line). The village street lines extending at an inclined towards the northwest slope, on the southern edge of the Aareniederung, in the Upper Aargau.
The area of 2.9 km ² large municipality area comprises a weakly in relief section of the northern Bernese Mittelland. The main part of the territory occupied by the height of cheek Ried, a Grundmoränenwall of glacial Rhone Glacier. On the Ruti is 495 m above sea level. M. reached the highest point of the municipality. In the north, this height is separated with the Chnubel through a valley floor from the gene Berg ( Wangen on the ground). To the east of the municipality of soil dates back to the Langimoos, south into the forest Ischlag, and on the west forms a small valley to be distinguished from the plateau of the Deitinger forest. A small proportion of the municipal ban in the North West with the corridor Schwerzi lies on the southern edge of the flat Aare plain (425 m above sea level. M. ). From the municipality surface 1997 7 % was attributable to settlements, 24 % of forest and shrubs, 68 % to agriculture and about 1% was unproductive land.
To Wangenried include several individual farms. Neighboring communities of Wangenried are Wangen an der Aare, Walliswil bei Wangen, Heimenhausen and Inkwil in the canton of Bern and Subingen and Deitingen in the canton of Solothurn.
Population
410 people (as of 31 December 2012) Wangenried is one of the small communities of the Canton of Bern. Of the residents 97.9 % are German, 0.8 % Italian-speaking and 0.5 % speak French (as of 2000). The population of Wangenried amounted in 1850 to 415 residents in 1900 to 332 inhabitants. After a slight population increase to 1950 (381 inhabitants), the population commutes ever since in the range 370-410 people.
Economy
Wangenried was until the second half of the 20th century, mainly coined by farming village. Even today, the farming and fruit growing and cattle breeding have an important place in the economic structure of the population. More jobs are in small local manufacturing and services available, including an operating wood processing. In recent decades, the village has developed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who work mainly in the region Langenthal - Herzogenbuchsee, in the Solothurn area and in the larger towns along the Jurasüdfusses.
Traffic
The community is conveniently comparatively quite well developed. It lies on the main road from Wangen an der Aare Herzogenbuchsee, but has a local bypass road. The nearest links to the A1 ( Bern- Zurich ) is located approximately 3 km from the center. By bus, which operates direct flight from Herzogenbuchsee to Wangen an der Aare, Wangen Ried is connected to the public transport network.
History
The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1407 under the name Ried. Later, the names cheeks Ried ( 1442 ) and Waggenried published (1784 ). The place name is derived from the Old High German word Riod ( clearing).
Since the Middle Ages Wangenried belonged to the provost's cheeks and was under the suzerainty of Kyburg. In 1406 the village was ruled by the city of Bern and was assigned to the result of the bailiwick cheeks. After the collapse of the Ancien Régime (1798 ) Wangenried belonged during the Helvetic Republic to the district from 1803 to the cheeks and upper cheeks Office, which received the status of an office district with the new cantonal constitution of 1831.
Attractions
The village has preserved many characteristic farmhouses of the Bernese country style from the 18th and 19th centuries. Wangenried does not have its own church, it belongs to the parish cheeks.
