Wasiu Taiwo

Wasiu Taiwo ( born October 1, 1976 in Lagos) is a Nigerian football player who played in the Netherlands from 1997 to 2007 and then moved to Austria. He usually plays as a striker, but can also act as a midfielder.

Career

In youth Taiwo played in his home country of Nigeria to Shooting Stars FC, ​​where he was also active as a professional from 1995 to 1996. He won in his first season with the Nigerian championship. In the same year he competed at the U.S. Cup his first game for the Nigerian national team. 1996, after he had occupied with the Shooting Stars to second place in the CAF Champions League, he moved to 19 -year-old De Graafschap Doetinchem in the Dutch Eredivisie, where he spent a season and 19 games played.

In 1997 he moved to MVV Maastricht, where he played for the next six years, the first three in the Eredivisie. He played 188 league games for Maastricht, scoring 54 goals. In 2003 he moved free transfer to AGOVV Apeldoorn.

In 2005, after two seasons in the Eerste Divisie in Apeldoorn, where he was a regular player in each case, Taiwo was awarded for league rivals Fortuna Sittard. A year later, he moved permanently to Fortuna. In summer 2007, he joined the Austrian third division FC Harreither WY. In the summer of 2008, he went to his mother club Shooting Stars back together with former Oberhausen Edith Agoye.
