Wathlingen

Wath ( Low German Wateln ) is a municipality in the southeast of the Lower Saxony district of Celle and the administrative seat of the velvet municipality of the same name. It is located approximately 30 km east of Hanover.

Geography

Close to Wath flows past the Fuhse. The community is overshadowed by a currently still about 110 m high potash. The county town of Celle is about 14 km away.

History

The oldest site of Samtgemeinde Wath Wath is the Samtgemeinde seat itself was first mentioned on November 1, 1022 as Bishop Bernward of Hildesheim, the monastery of St. Michael in Hildesheim and donated it with several goods, including " Waditlogon " endowed.

The village, which for centuries lived only on agriculture experienced around 1900 with the construction of the potash plant an enormous change to the industrial village. The population increased dramatically, and there was today's " colony " as a settlement of miners. The miner club is today perpetuated the tradition of the miners.

11 July 2009 celebrated the Wathlinger Kickers, a soccer recreational team, its tenth anniversary. Since 5 June 2010, the Kickers are entitled " Wathlinger Champion 2010 ".

The Primary School Wath celebrated its 100th anniversary on 27 September 2010. On this occasion the newly renovated gymnasium of the elementary school of their provision was passed.

Attractions

  • Until 1996, was promoted in the shaft Lower Saxony on the southern edge of the municipality of potash. The still existing tailings pond, the potash is visible from afar.

It will one day roll trains on the scenic routes of Ehlershausen (connection to the network of the DB ) to Wath and on to Hänigsen.
