West Kazakhstan Province

The area West Kazakhstan ( Kazakh Батыс Қазақстан облысы / Baty Qasaqstan oblyssy; Russian Западно - Казахстанская область / Sapadno - Kasachstanskaja oblast ) is one of the 14 provinces of the Republic of Kazakhstan and is located in the extreme northwest of the country. Akim (Governor ) is since August 2007 Baqtykoscha Ismuchambetow. The area was formed on 10 March 1932.

Geography

West Kazakhstan has an area of ​​151,300 km ² and around 617,000 inhabitants ( 2013). Capital is Oral ( Uralsk russian ) in the north.

It is bordered to the east by the Aktobe region and in the south to the Atyrau region, and north and west of Russia. The most important is the area by crossing the river, the Urals. The western and larger part of the area is thus in Europe.

The area West Kazakhstan is mainly covered by semi-deserts and deserts in the west and plains in the east. A narrow strip of territory along the Russian border is used for the cultivation of wheat.

Administrative Divisions

West Kazakhstan ( Rajons ) is divided into 12 Audanlar. The capital Oral is the area under the direct authority.
