Western New York Flash

Western New York Flash is a women's football franchise from Elma, New York, which at the National Women's Soccer League, the highest league in women's soccer in the U.S., plays.

The headquarters of the franchises is Elma, a suburb of Buffalo. The home games are played 's Stadium in Rochester, New York in about 100 km away Sahlen.

Owner of the franchise is the Sahlen family from Buffalo. Joe Sahlen is the owner of the team, his daughter Alex is the President and at the same player. The former New Zealand national team and husband of Alex Sahlen Aaran Lines is the coach of the team.

History

Already in 2008, the family founded Sahlem with Buffalo Flash woman football team. This franchise played in the former USL W-League. 2011, the team changed its name in Western New York Flash and played until 2011 in the WPS. For the 2012 season it was part of the Women's Premier Soccer League Elite, which disbanded after one season. The current franchise was established again in 2012 to participate in the new National Women 's Soccer League can.

Western New York was 2013 complete in the first season of NWSL the regular season as the best team and thus the NWSL Shield win. In the play-offs, the team won the semi-finals on the Sky Blue FC, but lost the final to the Portland Thorns FC.
