Western Province (Kenya)

Western ( West) is a province of Kenya. Its capital is Kakamega.

The province has about 4.023 million residents. Main demographic group in Western is the Bantu ethnic group of the Luhya.

Western reaches of the hills in the north to Bungoma to the plains around Lake Victoria in Busia. On the border with Uganda is the Mount Elgon. In Western is the last rainforest in Kenya, the Kakamega forest.

The most important industry is agriculture, which includes both subsistence farming with maize and millet, as well as the commercial cultivation of tea and sugar cane and livestock ( dairy and poultry). Furthermore, was in Webuye paper mill, and the forest of Kakamega is limited use of touristy.
