Whit Dickey

Whit Dickey (born 1954 ) is an American drummer and composer of avant-garde jazz.

Dickey studied with Milford Graves and worked with Rob Brown ( 1992), Joe Morris and William Parker ( Elsewhere 1996), Matthew Shipp (Circular Temple, 1990 Prism, 1993) and David S. Ware ( Oblation and Blessings, 1995). In trio with Rob Brown and Chris Lightcap he took in 1998 on the album Transonic; Dickey's compositions are heavily influenced by Monks titles Criss Cross and Off Minor influences. Followed in 2002 - extended by Joe Morris - the album Big Tap. In 2003 he played with saxophonist James Finn and Dominic Duval. 2004 originated with trumpeter Roy Campbell and Rob Brown, Chris Lightcap and Joe Morris Album In a Heartbeat.
