Wielowieś ( German Langendorf ) a place in the Gmina Wielowieś in Poland is 14 km north of Gliwice. Wielowieś located in the powiat Gliwice in Silesian Voivodeship. Wielowieś is the parish seat.

Geographical Location

Wielowieś is located in the western part of the Silesian Voivodeship near the border of the Opole Voivodeship, north of the county town of Gliwice ( Gleiwitz ) and east of Toszek ( Tost ) and in the central Upper Silesia.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1305 as Villa Magna in the phrase " Item in Magna Villa sunt XL mansi parvi decimam in capis de 3 bus triticis siliginis et avenae ."

1335 Parish Church was mentioned. 1629 returned the now Protestant Langendorf back to the Catholic religion, the nobility was Protestant.

1664 a Jewish community was founded by Jews from Poland in Langendorf. Around 1720, lived in the parish of 668 Catholics and 50 Jews, Langendorf was owned by Count Verdugo from Tworog. 1779 acquired General Johann Benedict of Groeling Langendorf, 1780 sold it and bought it back in 1781. Until 1780, the number of Jews increased significantly and began the members from the neighboring places in Langendorf bury. According to Rabbi Bernhard Brilling every fourth inhabitant Langendorf's was Jewish in the 18th century. In 1817 there were 279 Jews.

On April 10, 1902, the marriage of Baroness Eva Durant de Senegas with Count Leo Ballestrem was held at the Long Strand Church.

1921 voted in Langendorf in the referendum in Upper Silesia population of 918 511 for Poland and 398 for Germany.

On February 6, 1926, inaugurated on a Baron of Durant ( from the family Durand, Marquis de Senegas et de bonne from the Langduc ) donated land a war memorial. In the 1930s, a new development of 48 houses was built on the road to Schwieben in Langendorf.

Between 1934 and 1935, the Assumption Church was extended. In the presence of the bishop brawler from Breslau, Pastor 1935 was laid for the Protestant chapel room Tost and the builder Draub Peiskretscham from the foundation.

Attractions

  • Castle and park of the Verdugo family from the year 1748. Converted from 1923 until 1927.
  • The Roman Catholic Assumption Church from the 15th century, expanded in 1935. It has an elaborately configured wooden pulpit.
