Wiener Kammeroper

The Vienna Chamber Opera is an opera house on the northern edge of the city center of Vienna, which is annually recorded in the stagione system.

It was founded in 1953 by the Hungarian conductor Hans Gabor. First, the institution had no fixed home and recorded the Mozart Hall of the Konzerthaus and the Schönbrunn Palace Theatre. In 1961 she was awarded by the Ministry of Education and the City of Vienna, an annual subsidy, so that she could relate as a permanent venue the former ballroom of the Hotel Post am meat market. In the season 1999/2000 Isabella Gabor and Holger Bleck took over the management of the Vienna Chamber Opera. The promotion of young singers with the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition, and opera productions in the house at the meat market continued to be the main pillars of the Vienna Chamber Opera.

When her artistic task looked at the Directorate Gabor & Bleck to find works that are neither part of the repertoire of the great houses, were still produced by independent groups. This resulted in a Schedule of rarities from the fields of baroque opera, opera buffa, the chamber musicals and contemporary musical theater.

Sponsorship of the Theater an der Wien

Since autumn 2012, the Chamber Opera is recorded from the Theater an der Wien. Specially, an ensemble of seven young singers was hired to revive the venue at the meat market. The match schedule for the 2012/2013 season includes five opera productions and seven portrait concerts.

International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition

From 1982 to 2012, the Chamber Opera organizes the International Belvedere Singing Competition. The Belvedere Singing Competition among the world's most prestigious and largest competitions singer, with preliminary rounds in around 50 cities on all continents. From 2013 to the final rounds, which were previously located in Vienna, held internationally.
