The Wigger between Zofingen and Strengelbach

The Wigger (formerly also Wiggeren, dialect Wiggere or Wegere ) is a 41 km long river in the Swiss cantons of Lucerne and Aargau. It is an important tributary of the River Aare and flows almost its entire length in the south-north direction. The most important village in Wiggertal Zofingen.

Referred to in the uppermost part Enziwigger river rises on the northern slope of the cup, near the border with the Canton of Bern, at an altitude of about 1300 meters. Through a narrow valley it flows steeply after HERGISWIL, where the valley becomes wider and much shallower. Just below the town Willisau it unites with the book to become ' Wigger Wigger. The valley widens into a flat and wide level. North of Dagmersellen the Wigger is largely canalized and partly runs parallel to the A2 motorway. Between Reiden and Brittnau the Aargau cantonal border is crossed. Between Rothrist and Aarburg the Wigger opens at an altitude of 395 meters in the Aare.

Tributaries of the Wigger are the Seewag that Wanger Red, Ron, the Luthern and Hürnbach.

The Wigger in 1821 subjected by the government of the Canton of Aargau a Gewässerkorrektion. Until the second half of the 19th century were at the mouth of the Wigger gold washings, which were then abandoned due to lack of income.
