Wild house - Alt St. Johann is a municipality in the Upper Toggenburg in the canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland.

It was created on 1 January 2010 by the merger. The voters of the municipalities Wild House and Alt St. Johann in Upper Toggenburg had decided in late 2008 community meetings to merge their communities.

The region in the upper Toggenburg is the third largest in terms of area and also the highest municipality in the canton of St. Gallen. In this nature and mountains 2,653 people live ( end of 2010) and the municipality includes the villages Wild house, underwater, Alt St. Johann and the hamlet Starkenbach.

Coat of arms

Description

With the merger, the new total municipality received a new coat of arms. From the population was required that the Capricorn has to be necessarily integrated from the arms of the former municipality of wild house in the new coat of arms.

Through the merger, the new municipality of wild house - Alt St. Johann also received a new logo. The logo reflects the livable green valley with the water and the rising sun with a symbolic character for the prosperous development of the new community. The logo is used for the school and for the fire department.
