Wilhelm Ripe

Wilhelm Ripe ( born November 16, 1818 in Clausthal, † December 5, 1885 in Goslar ) was a German painter and printmaker.

Wilhelm Ripe, was born on November 16, 1818 in what was then Hahnenkleer school house, which was located on the site of today's Hotel Hahnenkleer yard. His father was there as a teacher and cantor a job as church, school and teacher's residence were asked by the then owner of the Hahnenkleer court, the community, are available.

He has started school yet with his father, but continued after the early death of his father his schooling in Clausthal continued. Already at that time turns out his great talent for drawing, which was funded by friends and patrons. Humility, poverty and deprivation characterize his life.
