Wilków, Prudnik County

Wilkau (Polish: Wilków ) is a town in Upper Silesia. Wilkau located in the municipality Zülz ( Biała) in Prudnicki powiat (district Neustadt OS) in the Polish Opole Voivodeship.

Geographical Location

Wilkau located eight kilometers east of the parish seat Zülz, 15 kilometers northeast of the county town of Prudnik ( Neustadt OS) and 35 kilometers south of the Opole voivodship ( Opole ).

Neighboring towns of Wilkau in the West Rosenberg ( Rostkowice ), in the northwest Sims village ( Gostomia ), in the north Neudorf ( Nowa Wies Prudnicka ), in the eastern Polish Müllmen ( Mionów ), the Southern German Müllmen ( wierzch ) and in the southwest Probnitz ( Browiniec Polski ).

History

The place was first mentioned in the 16th century. Inter alia 1531 as " Wilkow ," 1534 as " Wilkauw " and 1571 as " Wilkuow ". At the end of the 18th century, the city had 159 inhabitants. 1865 had Wilkau 19 farmer and gardener 11 points. In the first half of the 19th century Wilkau had 299 inhabitants, situated at the end of the 19th century, the city had 53 houses and 327 inhabitants.

In the plebiscite in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921 154 voters voted to remain in Germany and 62 for Poland. Wilkau remained with the German Reich. On 15 June 1936, the town was renamed in Willenau. By 1945, the place was in the district of Neustadt OS

In 1945 the previously German place under Polish administration and renamed Wilków and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950, the city came to Opole Voivodeship and since 1999 he is part of the powiat Prudnicki. On 6 March 2006 German was in the community Zülz, the Wilkau belongs introduced as a second official language. On 24 November 2008, the City also received the official German place names Wilkau.
