Willem Johannes Leyds

Willem Johannes Leyds ( born May 1, 1859 in Magelang, † 14 May 1940, The Hague) was a South African ambassador and foreign minister.

Life

Leyds studied law and practiced the profession of lawyer from. From 1884 to 1889 he was Attorney General of the Republic of South Africa and from 1889 to 1898 Minister of Foreign Affairs. From 1898 to 1902 he was ambassador in Brussels.

His contacts in the German Reich was Theodor Mommsen.
