William H. Ryan

William Henry Ryan ( born May 10, 1860 in Hopkinton, Massachusetts, † November 18, 1939 in Buffalo, New York ) was an American politician. Between 1899 and 1909 he represented the New State in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

In 1866, William Ryan came with his parents to Buffalo, New York, where he attended the public schools. He then worked in the shoe trade, and later in the insurance industry. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career. Between 1894 and 1900 he was a member of the District Council in Erie County. In 1898 he was its chairman.

In the congressional elections of 1898 Ryan was the 32nd electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of the Republican Rowland B. Mahany on March 4, 1899. After four elections he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1909 five legislative sessions. Since 1903, he represented there, the then newly created 35th district of his state. In 1908, he was not nominated by his party for re-election.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Ryan took his previous activities on again. He also went into the banking industry. In 1904 and 1924 he participated as a delegate to the Democratic National Conventions relevant. He also belonged to several state commissions. William Ryan died on November 18, 1939 in Buffalo.
