Wilson Kipsang Kiprotich

Wilson Kipsang Kiprotich ( born March 15, 1982 at Keiyo District ) is a Kenyan long-distance runner. He is the current world record holder in the marathon ( 2:03:23 h, situated at the Berlin Marathon, 2013).

Career

After he had completed secondary school at age 18, he became a traveling salesman. Only the marathon world record of Paul Tergat in 2003 inspired him to pursue the sport of running ambitious, and soon he was next to his profession successfully in local races.

In 2007 he met the manager Gerard van de Veen, with whom he was to work together from now on, and soon drove it on behalf of injured athletes for the first time to Europe to take part in road races.
