Wilton G. S. Sankawulo

Wilton GS Sankawulo, ( * 1937, † February 21, 2009 in Monrovia, Liberia) was 1995-1996 President of Liberia and writer.

Life

Sankawulo was born in Haindi and attended until 1946 the " Kpolopelleh Lutheran School ". He attended in Belefanai and Zorzor the Lutheran schools and then graduated to 1959 to study at the " Lutheran Training Institute ".

This was followed up to 1963, the Bachelor's degree program at the Cuttington College (now University College Cuttington ). In 1969, he reached further includes a bachelor's degree in theology at the " Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary " in Berkeley. He pursued his especially his writing talent.

As he considered his most important work, the translation of the Bible into the language of the Kpelle. Early on, he began to fairy tales, myths and legends of his people - the Kpelle - write them down. At the faculties of the University of Liberia and the Cuttington University College, he worked as a professor of English and literature.

After a three- week stay at the JFK Hospital Sankawulo died the age of 75 of heart failure. He left behind his wife Amelia Sankawulo and four children.

Policy

On September 1, 1995, Prof. Sankawulo Chairman of the Council of State of Liberia and thus Head of State of Liberia. But in this restless time he could not stabilize the country. He held office until September 3, 1996 and was replaced by Ruth Perry.
