Wincenty Niemojowski

Wincenty Niemojowski ( born April 5, 1784 in Slupin, † 1834) was a Polish liberal politician.

Life

He came from a distinguished family and was brother of Bonawentura Niemojowski. He studied in Halle an der Saale and in Erlangen law. In Erlangen, he was a member of the Corps Guestphalia 1802 and 1804 the Corps Marchia. He then worked at the time of the Duchy of Warsaw in administrative services in Kalisz. In 1818 he was elected to the Parliament of the Kingdom of Poland. Together with his brother, he organized a liberal oriented opposition movement against the violation of the Constitution of 1815 by the Russians. As both brothers were elected to the region Kalisz, called her political group Kaliszanie. He was repeatedly arrested for his political leanings.

During the November Uprising of 1830/31 he was a member of the Polish national government. He was vice president of the government and is responsible for administration and police. After the riots in August 1831 in Warsaw, he resigned his government post. He was also editor of the daily newspaper Kurier Poranny ( Morning Courier ) in Warsaw.

He was opposed to the dictatorship of Józef Chlopicki and advocated a democratization of Parliament. However, he was a social revolution against hostile.

After the end of the uprising, he was arrested by the Russians. He refused to sign the submission file. He was initially sentenced to death, then commuted to hard labor and died on his way into exile to Siberia.
