Winfried Bischoff

Winfried Franz Wilhelm "Win" Bischoff ( born 1941 in Cologne) is a German manager.

Life

Bischoff attended schools in Cologne and Dusseldorf, before moving to South Africa at the age of 14 years in 1955. He studied from 1959 to 1961 at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. After that he went for two years for Chase Manhattan Bank in New York before he joined Citicorp Finance Division at the London Bank J. Henry Schroder & Co Ltd 1966. In October 1995, he was head of Schroders. Since May 2000 he has been head of Citigroup Europe.

After the resignation of former CEO Charles Prince on 5 November 2007 Sir Win Bischoff was appointed interim CEO of Citigroup. On 11 December 2007 Vikram Pandit took over the post of Managing Director of Citigroup.

Since September 2009, Bischoff is chairman of the British financial company Lloyds Banking Group.
