We Germans ( Alternative title: A trip to the theaters of the past) is a documentary series on German history, which will be broadcast on the programs of ARD since 1991.

Content

The historical series tells the story of the Germans in a summary manner. It begins with the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest and ends with the abdication of the last German Emperor in 1918. During the presentation is not a figures in the foreground, but the deeper connections of events and causes.

Background

The 12 documentary episodes were broadcast on 24 November 1991 to 16 February 1992 at the First German Television. In 2010, the show was repeated at least one extra. The historical series was released on VHS and DVD.

You can hear in the series the music of Edvard Grieg (including morning mood ). The game played in the death of a person's history background track, for example, is Grieg Aase's Death from Peer Gynt Suite No. 1
