WÅ‚odzimierz Tetmajer

Włodzimierz Przerwa - Tetmajer ( born December 31, 1861 in Harklowa in Nowy Targ, † December 26, 1923 in Bronowice in Kraków) was a Polish painter and politician.

Biography

He studied painting at the art academies in Krakow, Vienna, Munich and Paris, and from 1889 to 1895 under Jan Matejko and Classical Philology at the Jagiellonian University. He painted mostly landscapes, scenes of peasant life, and sacred polychromy. 1914-1918 he was a member of the XII. Legislature of the Austrian Chamber of Deputies and after 1918 the Polish Sejm, as PSL Piast deputy. Włodzimierz Tetmajer was half-brother of the writer Kazimierz Przerwa - Tetmajer and cousin of the writer Tadeusz Boy - Żeleński and Prof. Ludwig von Tetmajer and intermarried with the poet Lucjan Rydel, who married the sister of Tetmajers wife. This wedding was the model for the drama, Stanisław Wyspiański Night Drive ( The Wedding ), and to be seen in the article of the same image Włodzimierz Tetmajers.
