Wölferlingen

Wölferlingen ( dialect: Wälferlinge ) is a municipality in the Westerwald district in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of seltzer (Westerwald ). Wölferlingen is a nationally recognized resort.

Geography

Geographical location

Wölferlingen lies in the Westerwald between Hachenburg in the north, Westerburg in the east, Montabaur in the south and about 8 km southwest gelegenem seltzer. It is located south-southeast of the Westerwald Lake, a popular holiday and recreation area. The local Wölfer Linger pond ( 1.02 ha) is a nature reserve and is known for its rare bird and plant species.

At about 700 m south-southeast of Wölferlingen gelegenem community part Düringen is the Bright Mountain (491 m above sea level. NN ), an observation tower with view on the stands since 1998, among other things, the Westerwald.

History

1349 Wölferlingen was first mentioned as Wulferinc. 1359 states Wolfferingin, later Wölfringen, Wolffryngen, Wulff rings, rings and Wolf since 1622 Wölferlingen. In 1399 a chapel was at the point where the church stands today, built. Thus was able to celebrate two birthdays Wölferlingen in 1999.

Economy and infrastructure

Economy

While Wölferlingen formerly was a agricultural center, he has now developed almost to a residential community. At present there are Wölferlingen still a main hobby farmer and several agricultural -time farms. Nevertheless, the 800 -acre district of the municipality is ( of which about 305 ha community forest ) of these farmers still quite managed. Brownfields are rare. The community forest was once the main source of livelihood of the community. Today, the importance of community forest stands as guarantor for the clean air, water storage of the population and as a tourist attraction to the public in the foreground.
