Woodburn, Loudoun County, Virginia

Woodburn is an unincorporated community in Loudoun County, Virginia, and is located southwest of Leesburg on the Hogback Mountain. The Woodburn Road, which is located between the Dry Mill and Harmony Church Road, is the only relic that marks the location and existence of the community.

The ruins of Wood Burns colonial shop stood north of the intersection of Woodburn Road and Forrest Grove Road, to the Virginia Department of Transportation ( VDOT ) in 2000, the decision of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors to make the road unpaved overturned, and the road paved and common and thus destroyed the walls of the colonial store. This action was very controversial. Many residents of the area, who vehemently campaigning against the paving of the road, believe that the decision of the VDOT was influenced by a business with real estate developers who owned land on the road, but could not bring trucks on the narrow and winding dirt road. Interesting aspect is that a resident of the street, a proponent of asphalting, also a lawyer was one of the developers in question.
