World Rowing Championships
The World Rowing Championships from the International Rowing Federation ( FISA ) organized competitions to determine the world champion in rowing in various boat classes.
Boat classes
The World Championships and the rowing World Cup will be played in 22 different boat classes. Of these, however, not all will be held at the Olympic rowing regatta. The Olympic classes (O ) are more frequented than the race at the World Championships, which take place only on these events (WM).
Furthermore, in different boat classes are determined in world champion handicap rowing. These are currently (as of 2013):
World Championships
The first World Championships were held in 1962 on the Rotsee in Lucerne in Switzerland instead. By 1974, the world championships were held every four years since a year. In the Olympic years since 1976, the World Rowing Championships for non-Olympic boat classes take place, which have since been discharged because of the small numbers of participants, together with the Junior World Championships.

U23 World Championships
The U23 World Championships in 2005, the rules of FISA included in the "Rules of Racing", and have been considered "real World Cup ." The last unofficial U23 World Championships was in 2004 in Poznań, Poland, instead. To date, the competition carried the names match the Seniors Nations Cup and last World Rowing Under 23 Regatta.
Junior World Championships
First time in 1967 World Rowing Junior Championships (U -19) was held in rowing. The event was held at the time of Küchensee in Ratzeburg. Since 2003, the Junior World Championships will take place in the year before the Olympic Summer Games as a dress rehearsal on the future Olympic facility instead.
