College

Tittle grew up in Marshall, where he attended the High School, where he was employed as a quarterback and because of its benefits noticed the Scouts of the college teams. As his hometown is near Louisiana, he took a scholarship at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, especially since he liked much better the campus of this university compared to the University of Texas at Austin. Tittle, Nickname: '' Y. AT '' played from 1944 to 1947 at the Louisiana State University Tigers and had his best year in 1946 when he won 9 of 10 games. Already during his studies showed the unusual tenacity and determination of the actually rather restrained Tittle. Though after a failed attempt to pass off his shoes and his belt buckle lost after a hard tackle and slid his pants down to his knees, he ran 50 yards up to the opponent's end zone. The game was lost anyway.

Professional time

Tittle was selected in the 1948 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions in the 1st round in 6th place. But Tittle accepted an offer of the Colts and played in the next two years in the All-America Football Conference. After ten years, where he has been only spare man behind Frankie Albert in the first two years, Tittle was delivered to the New York Giants. Man held for Tittle too old and had committed in San Francisco a few years ago a young quarterback. However, the assessment of the team leading the 49ers should quickly prove to be incorrect. Tittle 1961 was included by the same coach Allie Sherman of the Giants in the game the team from New York City, where he had his best years. In 1962, he threw 33 touchdowns and 36 touchdowns in 1963, which meant each season best of all quarterbacks, and brought him in 1963 to the first place of the all-time best list. Tittle was the first quarterback in the league, which could bring in two rounds in succession more than 30 touchdown passes in each case at the man. 1962 Tittle also get seven touchdown passes in a game - this was an absolute NFL record.
