Yasuhiko Okudera

Yasuhiko Okudera (Japanese奥 寺 康 彦Okudera Yasuhiko, born March 12, 1952 in Kazuno, Akita Prefecture) is a former Japanese football player.

Career

The midfielder began his career in 1970 at Furukawa Electric Soccer Club in Japan, with which he could Championship 1976 and 1977 the JSL Cup win. As Okudera joined the first player from Japan to the 1 FC Cologne in the Bundesliga in July 1977, he was laughed at, but he quickly sat under coach Hennes Weisweiler by and became a regular player. In the first year he was the same German DFB Cup champion and winner. Okuderas diving header, with whom he 1977/78 scored the goal on April 29, 1978 0:5 final score on the last matchday of the Bundesliga Cologne championship season in the away game at FC St. Pauli, was elected as the goal of the month.

1981 brought him Otto Rehhagel then Hertha BSC to Werder Bremen. In Bremen, he was appointed as a regular player three times German vice-champion.

Up to end of his career Okudera played a total of 234 times in the Bundesliga, scoring 26 goals. In the 2nd Bundesliga he came up with 25 missions and eight goals. In 1986 he returned to Japan to Furukawa Electric Soccer Club, where he also finished his active career in 1988.

On July 12, 1972 Okudera debuted in the Japanese national team in the game against the Khmer Republic, today's Cambodia. Japan won 4-1 in Kuala Lumpur. He came to 42 appearances for the national team of Japan, where he scored 8 goals until 1988.

Today he is president of the Japanese city of Yokohama FC and the way television commentator. He also was chairman of the English second division club Plymouth Argyle.
