Yasutomo Nagai

Yasutomo Nagai (Japanese永 井 康 友, Yasutomo Nagai, born October 29, 1965 in Koshigaya, Saitama Prefecture, Japan, † September 12, 1995 in Assen, Netherlands ) was a Japanese motorcycle racer.

Career

Yasu, as he was called, his racing career began on minibikes. His first road race rode, 1986 at the age of 21 years. Since 1989, he competed for Yamaha.

Superbike World Championship

Yasutomo Nagai debuted at the 1994 Japanese Sugo as a wildcard rider at his home race in the Superbike World Championship. He could in this application for the Yamaha team YRTR Immediately retract the pole position. In both races he finished third and fifth respectively of 40 riders started.

1995 Yasutomo Nagai was appointed as a regular driver in the Yamaha factory team Yamaha World Superbike Team. On September 10, 1995, he was severely injured in the second race of the day at Assen, Netherlands in an accident. He slipped on the penultimate lap of the race on the one lying in front of him rider oil and crashed heavily. He was taken from his motorcycle and pulled to severe head injuries. The race was canceled, Yasu brought to the hospital.

On 12 September 1995 at 21:40 clock Nagai died in hospital in Assen in the presence of his girlfriend and his parents to serious injury. The Yamaha Factory Team rider Colin Edwards drew his second return of the remaining four races of the season. At the time of his death Yasu was on the fourth world rank, in the final standings he finished fifth.
