Year of the Devil is a Czech fictional documentary about the life of singer-songwriter Nohavica.

Action

A Dutch filmmaker spins in the Czech Republic a documentary about a sanitarium for alcoholics. In this sanatorium, he met the Czech songwriter Nohavica know without knowing that this man is a legend in the Czech Republic. The poet, musician and friend Nohavicas Karel Plíhal is indeed not an alcoholic, but the seclusion and security of the sanatorium he likes it so much that he decides to stay there. The film follows the band for one year from gig to gig and approaches so Nohavica and shows the rise of a completely unknown folk band to national heroes. The film belongs to the Czech Republic to the most popular films of recent years. After its theatrical release on March 7, 2002, he reached 100,000 viewers in the Czech Republic within 8 weeks.
