Yemva
Jemwa (Russian Емва ) is a city in the northwestern Russian republic of Komi with 14,570 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).
Geography
The city is located in the foothills of Nordurals about 130 km north-east of the Republic capital Syktyvkar on the left bank of the Wym, a right tributary of the opening into the Northern Dvina Vychegda.
Jemwa is the administrative center of the Rajons Knjaschpogost.
The city is situated on the Pechora Railway Konosha - Kotlas - Vorkuta ( station Knjaschpogost, 1365 route km from Moscow).
History
The place was built in 1941 as a settlement of urban type Schelesnodoroschny the construction, named after the nearby village railway station Knjaschpogost the Pechora Railroad. In 1985, the settlement under the present name of the city right after the local komi Khanty name for the river Wym (about sacred river ).
