Yevgeny Feofanov

Yevgeny Feofanow ( born April 22, 1937 in Moscow) is a former Soviet boxer. Feofanow was bronze medalist of the 1960 Olympics and silver medalist.

Career

Feofanow was a Soviet champion in 1960 at middleweight ( - 75kg). In 1958 he was runner-up behind Gennadi Schatkow and 1959 behind Valeri Popentschenko.

One of his first missions for the Soviet Inbox Selection denied Feofanow 1956 at a meet against a German selection against Dieter Wemhöner, which he won (2:1). In 1957 he won the boxing tournament at the World Festival of Youth and Students in Moscow.

At the Olympic Games in 1960 Feofanow reached after victories over Yoland Leveque, France (5-0 ), Carlos Lucas, Chile (KO 2 ), and Luigi Napoleoni, Italy ( KO 2 ), the semi-final, which he compared Tadeusz Walasek, Poland ( 4-1 ), lost and thus won the Olympic bronze medal.

In 1961, Feofanow part in the European Championships and won the silver medal. In the final, he had to admit defeat this time Walasek ( TKO 3 ).
