Yvan Delporte

Yvan Delporte (* June 24, 1928 in Brussels, † March 5, 2007 ) was a Belgian comics writer and 1955-1968 editor of the Journal de Spirou.

Career

Yvan Delporte began with the retouching of comics and other small activities in the Spirou magazine, but evolved over time into a multi-talented comic industry. In 1955, he became the successor of Charles Dupuis as editor of the magazine. A long-running collaboration with André Franquin began during the many well-known cartoon characters, including Gaston Lagaffe, have been developed. Together with Peyo he later worked on the comics of the Smurfs, with Eddy Paape on the series Jean Valhardi and with René Follet on the series Steven Severijn. He was also co-author of the series Idées noires.
