Zanskar

Zanskar (from Tib: Zang dkar, on older cards also Zaskar ) is a region in the western part of the Himalayan Mountains. As it belongs to Tehsil Kargil district, and thus to the Ladakh region of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. She is a former independent Buddhist kingdom, and today is India.

The area is about 3500-7000 meters above sea level, on the "roof of the world". The region has an area of ​​around 7,000 km ².
