Žemaitija National Park
The Žemaitija National Park is a national park in the north- western part of Lithuania, in the region of Lower Lithuania ( Žemaitija ). The national park was founded in 1991. It occupies an area of 21,720 ha. This is seen to rich hills. 7 % of the area occupied by lakes, one of which is the largest of Plateliai. Under protection are 26 lakes, ponds and rivers, marshes and floodplains. There are strictly protected core zone Plokštinė.
