10 Gigabit Ethernet#Fiber .2810GBASE-R.29

IEEE 802.3ae (also 802.3ae - 2002) was the first Ethernet standard for 10-GBit/s-Verbindungen and dates from 2002. IEEE 802.3ae defines fiber optic connections to 10GBASE -SR, 10GBASE -LR, 10GBASE -ER, 10GBASE -SW, 10GBASE -LW, 10GBASE -EW 10 Gigabit Ethernet, which originate from the series IEEE 802.

The standard allows transmissions depending on the physical interface PHY of the transport medium with max. 10 Gbit / s via multi- mode fiber over lengths of 25 m ( 10GBASE -SR) up to max. 300 m ( 10GBASE- LX4 ) and single-mode fiber up to 40 km ( 10GBASE -ER).
