( 17078 ) Sellers is an asteroid of the main belt, which was discovered at his private observatory, the Reedy Creek Observatory ( IAU code 428), in Queensland, Australia on 24 April 1999 of the Australian amateur astronomer John Broughton.
The asteroid was named after the British actor and comedian Peter Sellers - named, who primarily for his role of Inspector Clouseau in the series The Pink Panther, as well as by the film Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1925 1980), in which he played three roles, achieved great notoriety.
