1766 Slipher is a main belt asteroid. He was discovered on September 7, 1962 at the Goethe Link Observatory at Brooklyn (Indiana ) under the Indiana Asteroid Program at Indiana University.
The asteroid was named the brothers Earl and Vesto Slipher, U.S. astronomers to honor.
