1912 Giro d'Italia

The fourth Giro d'Italia took place from 19 May to 2 June 1912 and was discharged in nine stages over 2436 km, of which only eight were counted. At the end of the tour, all drivers were the fastest team the pink jersey. An individual classification as in previous sweeps did not exist. The tour started in Milan and ended in Bergamo.

During the fourth stage from Pescara to Rome led to the first driver to strike the Giro history. Since a river was overflowed their banks, the stage should be extended by 50 kilometers. The drivers protested and took the train to Rome.

The Italian team Atala with the drivers Luigi Ganna, who already won the first edition of the Giro, Carlo Galetti, who won in 1910 and 1911, Giovanni Michlotto and Eberardo Pavesi won the overall standings ahead of Team Peugeot consisting of Ugo Agostoni, Domenico Allasia, Carlo Durando and Angelo Gremo, and the team Gerbi, consisting of Pierino Albini, Lauro Bordin, Giovanni Gerbi and Giovanni Rossignoli.
