1949 Meistaradeildin

The Faroe Islands Football Championship 1949 was held in the Meistaradeildin said first Faroese league and overall was the seventh season.

B36 Tórshavn II withdrew from the championship. Instead TB Tvøroyri was admitted as a new permanent member in the top flight and was the tenth participant of this after the introduction of the League operation in 1947. Champion TB Tvøroyri who could thus win the title for the second time. Defending B36 Tórshavn landed on the third place. TB remained loss- point free for the entire season, which only KÍ Klaksvík 1969 and HB Tórshavn was otherwise 1973 and 1975 succeeded. VB Vágur remained over the entire season, however, devoid of points. Without point remained after the introduction of league play operation otherwise only 1947 MB Miðvágur 1947 B36 Tórshavn II 1948 TB Tvøroyri 1963 and NSÍ Runavík 1976.

In comparison to the previous season, the strike rate improved to 5.47 per game. The highest scoring victories TB Tvøroyri with a 10:1 at home against HB Tórshavn and II with a 9-0 at home to VB Vágur. The highest-scoring game completed B36 Tórshavn and VB Vágur with a 10:4.

In the Meistaradeildin each team played in five games once each against each other. The point- best team in the season-ending stable as champions this league, a down regulation did not exist.

Course of the season

TB Tvøroyri easily took five wins from five games the championship. The sharpest Followers HB Tórshavn was away defeated 3-2.
