1956 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship
The Volleyball World Championship for Men 1956 was held from 30 August to 12 September in Paris. Czechoslovakia won for the first time the title. The number of participants increased to 24 teams, including the two German teams of the Federal Republic and the GDR.
Mode
The 24 participants played in the first round in four triple and two groups of two. The group winners of the preliminary round determined in the final group of the world champions. The runners-up were playing for places eleven to twenty, the remaining teams to the ranks 21 to 24
