1962 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship

The Volleyball Women's World Cup 1962 was held from October 13 to 25 in the Soviet Union instead. Japan won the title for the first time. The Games were held in Moscow, Kiev and Leningrad.

Mode

The fourteen participants played in the first round in two of four and two groups of three. The top two teams from each group came in the final group with eight teams. The results were taken against direct competitors. The winner of this group became the new world champion. The other participants were playing in a group of six to the ranks of nine to fourteen.

Outcomes of the German teams

The women of the Federal Republic of missed not in the final group with three 0-3 defeats in Group D against the Soviet Union, Romania and the Netherlands. In the group of six they occupied the last place before Austria. The crew of the GDR qualified contrast, a second group the qualifying round for the final group there and took seventh place.
