1973 FIVB Women's World Cup

The Volleyball World Cup in 1973 was the first edition of the competition. It took place between 19 and 28 October in Montevideo ( Uruguay). The USSR won the title.

  • Peru and Brazil in 1968 Brazil as the winner and runner-up of the South American Championship 1973
  • Japan Japan, Korea, South Korea and Argentina at the invitation of the FIVB

Mode

The ten participants were divided into two groups of five teams. Afterwards the group winners and runners- played for the places one to four. The third and fourth group were playing for places five to eight.
