1992–93 2. Bundesliga
In the season 1992/93 the 2nd Bundesliga SC Freiburg, MSV Duisburg and VfB Leipzig rose to the Bundesliga.
The League had played in two groups in the previous year due to the inclusion of clubs from the former GDR. This season, the second division were compiled into a single track league with 24 teams. To return to achieve the target strength of 20 clubs next year, up from seven teams.

Rise
With Freiburg and Leipzig two teams went for the first time in its history, the Bundesliga. The MSV Duisburg managed direct resurgence.
Descent
Due to the reduction of the league from 24 to 20 clubs came up seven teams in the league from: Darmstadt, Germany, Remscheid, Oldenburg, Bundesliga relegation Dusseldorf, Osnabruck, Brunswick and freshman Unterhaching.
Scorer
Top Scorer of the season was Siegfried Reich from VfL Wolfsburg with 27 goals.
