Qualification for the FIFA Women's World Cup 2003
The qualifying matches for the World Cup of women in 2003 were held to 12 July 2003 of 16 August 2001.
99 organizations had signed up for the World Cup. But only 81 teams were able to start in the actual World Cup qualifiers. For the UEFA sorted from 18 European teams play weak, so to speak, already played a pre-qualification for the 2007 World Cup. Were given a total of 16 places. No team remained qualifiers spared neither host and defending champion United States, nor the originally planned host China. All qualification options include either the championship or the tournament system.

Qualified teams
European Zone / UEFA
The teams were divided into two classes on the power. The strong teams in Class A and the weaker teams in Class B.
Class A: 16 teams playing in four groups of four of the five finalists of the World Cup 2003. The four group winners qualified directly for the World Cup finals, the four runners determined in two playoff rounds the fifth participant.
Class B: 18 teams played in two groups of four and two groups of five. The four group winners and the best runners-up will play in the World Cup qualifiers for the World Cup 2007 in the A-Class. All participants in the B-Class had no way to qualify itself for the World Cup 2003.

North and Central America / CONCACAF
In a group of five identify five Central American teams, two participants in the CONCACAF Championship. Also found twelve Caribbean teams three more participants for the CONCACAF Championship in the USA. The three teams of North Zone United States, Mexico and Canada were set for the CONCACAF Championship.
The CONCACAF Championship in the United States served as a qualifier for the 2003 World Cup in the USA. The two finalists qualified for the 2003 World Cup in the USA. The third had the chance to qualify in a playoff against Asia - fourth for the World Cup.

21 African teams determined in two knockout rounds seven participants of the Africa Endturniers in Nigeria. Added to this was the eighth participant hosts Nigeria.
In two groups of four, the two group winners qualified for the semifinals. Both finalists qualified for the World Cup 2003. The tournament was also the African championship.
