2007 UCI Indoor Cycling World Championships

The Indoor Cycling World Championships 2007 took place from 9th to 11th November, 2007 Winterthur, Switzerland. The second already Indoor Cycling World Championships in Winterthur after the first 1997 World Championships took place again in the Eulachhallen. There competitions were held in cycle ball and artistic cycling. The World Championships were a huge success for the German athletes who cleared away all the gold medals.

A total of 144 athletes from 21 nations participated. The participating nations all came from Europe or Asia, with the exception of a team of Tschechinnnen who started for Chad.

Organization

The initiative for the repeated execution of a World Cup was in charge of indoor cycling by Marianne core member of the RMV Pfungen and the board of Swiss Cycling. The leadership of the project took over Daniel Frei, sports manager and current president of the umbrella organization Winterthur sport. The candidacy of OK for Winterthur finally received in January 2005 by the UCI awarded the contract - after the competitors had already withdrawn the announcement of the candidacy of Winterthur. Compared to the 1997 World Cup, which took place in Winterthur and was considered the model occasion, you now had a second Eulachhalle available which created optimal conditions for the implementation of another World Cup.

For the event was a budget of 750,000 Br and months after the end of the World Cup, the OC was able to report a profit of 29'600 CHF even this money was then divided among the helpers of the event.

The members of the OC were mainly representatives from the city, Winterthur region. Daniel Spengler was formerly active players and Toni Hostettler eight years managing director at Scout Winterthur. Venue

The whole event was carried out in the Eulachhallen in Winterthur, which is normally the home ground of handball club scouts Winterthur. Here, a hall - usually the stadium 's first team was used as a scout - competition hall and the second as event hall by the catering facilities and a cultural program were offered. In the entrance area in front of the contest hall various exhibitors, a bar, cloakroom and an information desk still had their stands. The Eulachhalle was sold out throughout the event and a total of 3280 spectators who found place in the Eulachhalle including Temporary stands, this was also indoor record.

It WM vouchers were issued, which were valid at the venue as the sole means of payment.

Radball

It was carried out in the men's 2's team competition.

Mode

The participants started in the three strength groups A, B and C, where A was the strongest group, where the champion was determined. There were in all groups one round in which all played against all. Then it came only in group A to an intermediate round in which the second - to fifth-placed the first round and the third hit on the fourth place. The winners from the respective batches subjected to a final round with the winners of the preliminary round one. In the finals again played all the teams against each other, the two strongest teams made at the end of a final match in the World Championship among themselves. In the strength of groups B and C, the table was already after the first round the final table. In Group C, there was a round-trip round because of the few participating teams.

Group A

In Group A, Germany won the final against Austria with 6:4 and thus became world champion. The third place winner was Switzerland in the first round even on points with Austria at the top, in the final round, however, Germany was able to secure victories against both teams with the gold medal. There competitions were conducted in 1- 2- and 4- art cycling of the ladies and in the Nos. 1 and 2 Art Cycling of Lords.

Mode

First, getting a qualification was down, the four best athletes with the most points came in the final. A free program lasted six minutes and included 28 different elements with a certain level of difficulty, which then served as the basis for evaluation ( be called points). A total of 23 athletes participate in the competition from 12 countries.

Doubles

A total of 14 teams participated in the competition from nine nations. The German Duo Schultheis / Sprink Meier presented in the qualifying round with 316.39 points retracted to a new world record.

In addition to the finalists Hungary and France represented yet another team, but both had no chance of reaching the finals.
