2010 AFF Suzuki Cup

The eighth edition of the ASEAN Football Championship took place by 28 December 2010 of 1. Since 2008 is the official name of the event AFF Suzuki Cup. The group matches were held in Vietnam and Indonesia, where the semi-finals and the final were played in home and away matches. Eligible were all Southeast Asian football teams. Smaller nations like Laos and Cambodia had to first earn the right to start for the final round of a qualifying round. The draw for the finals and the qualifying round was held in Hanoi on September 15. Southeast Asia champion Malaysia.

Qualification

For the tournament in Vietnam and Indonesia, in addition to the two co-hosts the following nations were directly qualified: Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore and Thailand.

The teams from Laos, Cambodia, East Timor and the Philippines had to play in a qualifier against each other first. This was played in a league format to the two still to be awarded places. In 2008 allowed the Sultanate of Brunei to take part with his national team in the qualifiers. The Association has been excluded from the FIFA from regular service in 2009.

The qualifying tournament was held from 22 to 26 October 2010 in the Lao capital Vientiane instead.

Final tournament

It was played in each of two groups of four teams. The group winners and runners then met each other in the semi-finals. The winners of the Halbfinalbegenungen then determined the winner of the ASEAN Cup in 2010. The semi-finals and the finals were played in home and away matches.

The first legs took place on December 15th and 16th 2010, the return games were held on 18 and 19 December 2010.

Final

The first leg was held on December 26, 2010, instead of the return match on December 29, 2010.
