The Gelora Sriwijaya Stadium - ( Indonesian Gelora Sriwijaya Stadium, also called Jakabaring Stadium ) is a multi-purpose stadium in Palembang in Indonesia. It has a capacity of 40,000 spectators and was built in 2001-2004 to host the Indonesian National Games Pekan Olahraga Nasional XVI. It is the third largest stadium in Indonesia after the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, Jakarta and the Palaran Stadium in Samarinda.

Originally, the stadium was named after its location in the eponymous suburb of Palembang Jakabaring Stadium. Later was in honor of the existing from the 7th to the 13th century Srivijaya Empire renamed Gelora Sriwijaya Stadium -.

Currently, the stadium is primarily used for football matches; Indonesian club Sriwijaya FC plays its home games from here.

Events

In the Gelora Sriwijaya Stadium, have been or will be held the following major events:

  • From 2 to 14 September 2004, the opening, the closing ceremonies and the football tournament of the Indonesian National Games Pekan Olahraga Nasional XVI took place in the stadium.
  • In 2005, the ASEAN U-20 football Championship was held here.
