2011 census of India

The Census of India 2011 is the 15th census in India. The last took place in 2001.

Procedure

In addition, biometric data is taken as fingerprints of all ten fingers and also scans the iris of all Indians. However, participation in this action was voluntary.

The questionnaire consists of 29 questions. Here, religion, marriage age, income, number of children, occupation, language, mobile phone ownership, computer ownership, bank accounts, Internet access and housing are recorded. Target

The aim is to capture the statistical and the detection of irregularities and the better care of its citizens. The basics are to be created to provide all Indians with a twelve digit identification number (UID, Unique Identification Project).

So it is Indians without birth certificates, school certificates, permanent residence permits, etc. by the number assignment, to apply for food stamps and to open toll-free bank accounts at the State Bank, on which the state aid will be paid, so that the aid directly and without ( possibly corrupt ) middlemen goes to the needy.

Criticism

The Indian Minister of State for electronic recording and IT entrepreneur Nandan Nilekani has come in for criticism in part. Critics charge that a government project under the supervision of an entrepreneur only served to create a huge client list. Nilekani denies this and argues that we must through the technical and legal framework to prevent the misuse of data and should just the poor Indians the chance not refuse to get better living conditions by means of side of the state, by making use of data collection technology.
